Telehealth

A Telehealth appointment is a medical appointment where you will see your healthcare professional on a screen or talk together over the telephone.

In most cases you have agreed to a Telehealth appointment or your specialty area has identified your appointment as being suitable.

Telehealth recommends using the latest version of Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome or Apple Safari browsers.

Benefits of Telehealth

  • Convenient access across multiple devices (computer, smartphone or tablet)
  • Reduce barriers to access, such as travelling distance, living in a regional or metropolitan area, mobility issues and an inability to take time off work
  • Save you money in personal travel costs and accommodation if travelling in from intrastate.

How does it work?

Telehealth can be offered for your clinical appointment, or you can ask your clinician for a Telehealth review if appropriate.

To participate in a Telehealth videocall, you will need a device, camera, speakers/headphones and microphone, (these are usually inbuilt into your device). Normal data usage is similar to a standard YouTube video.

You can access the service from your local health centre or at home on any smart device.

If you have a booked video consultation, please click on the Healthdirect video call icon below. It is strongly recommended to test your set up prior to your booked appointment using the 'Run a test call' link.
