FamCam information for parents
The FamCam is a video service available in the Neonatal Unit which allows you to view and embrace connection with your infant from home.
This service is initiated by Parents only, but you may invite family and friends to join your video call. The service can be accessed via your mobile phone or email address to your personal device.
The method of connection is secure and by invitation only. A direct link it utilised to maintain confidentiality using the Hospital WiFi system. Each connection is once only and cannot be accessed again.
The program will allow for a video call view of your Baby. The microphone is deactivated on the hospital side; ensuring confidentiality is maintained for your family, as well as other patients and staff on the ward.
The video call will be ceased if a procedure is required to be undertaken that cannot be delayed. Your bedside nurse may contact you to reschedule a time.
Process to arranging a FamCam call
- Talk to your beside nurse to arrange a suitable time for FamCam.
- Ensure that you have given the nurse the correct mobile number or email address.
- You will receive a link to connect to – follow the steps as indicated.
- You will be placed into a virtual waiting room.
- When the nurse is ready; she will invite you to join the video call.
- The Video call will be about 30 minutes to ensure other users have access to the system.
- When the connection is ceased by the nurse you will not be able to re-access until a new link is formed by the bedside nurse.
