CAMHS Inforeels Project
The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) Inforeels project is an initiative designed to co-create engaging, short-format videos called ‘inforeels’ for young people aged 14-17 who are using, about to use, or are curious about community based mental health services. The goal is to normalise and improve access to community-based mental health services by providing clear, relatable, and inclusive information about the service. It aims to help young people feel prepared and more confident about their appointment at CAMHS.
The purpose of the Inforeels is to:
- reduce stigma around accessing community based mental health services.
- provide clear, inclusive information on what to expect when accessing community-based Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services.
- improve engagement with young people from diverse backgrounds.
- share information through social media and other platforms.
The project will be guided by an Inforeels Advisory Group.
How will young people be involved in this project?
The Inforeels Advisory Group will consist of approximately six young people aged 14 to 21, all recruited through an Expression of Interest. These consumer representatives will bring diverse perspectives to ensure the videos are meaningful and inclusive.
What is a consumer representative?
A consumer representative is someone who either has direct experience with a service or advocates for those who do. In this role, you will share insights on what young people need to know about CAMHS to make the content relevant and helpful.
What will the CAMHS Inforeels Advisory Group do:
The CAMHS Inforeels Advisory Group will:
- identify what young people want to know about CAMHS.
- co-develop a series of short-format videos that resonate with the target audience. This includes shaping the production brief, confirming content, selecting visuals and music, and contributing to script writing.
- work alongside a production company to bring these ideas to life.
- play a role in promoting these videos and evaluating their impact.
Who else is involved?
The CAMHS Inforeel Advisory Group will consult with other young people to gather a broad range of perspectives. The CAMHS Lived Experience Advisory Group and CAHS Youth Advisory Group will also contribute to this project.
The expertise of CAMHS clinicians will provide valuable insights into the services and supports available and draw on their experience working with young people.
The CAMHS Reform, CAHS Communications, Consumer Engagement, and Strategy, Planning and Innovation teams are involved in this project.
