Fatima says "I believe every family deserves to feel heard, respected, and supported when accessing healthcare. Real change happens when communities are part of the conversation".

Fatima Faqiri is an experienced community advocate who worked alongside culturally and linguistically diverse communities in Western Australia for more than 16 years.

As the founder of the Hazara Women Support Network and a long-term volunteer and leader across multiple community initiatives, Fatima’s work focuses on strengthening inclusion, amplifying community voices, and improving access to essential services.

This focus made her a perfect fit for the CAHS Ambassador Program.

“I was inspired by the opportunity to create real change within the health system by representing community voices and contributing to more inclusive and culturally responsive care,” she said.

She has seen firsthand how systems can either empower or exclude, particularly in complex systems like health.

“I want to strengthen trust between communities and health services, ensuring families feel confident, informed, and supported when accessing care for their children.”

“As Ambassadors, we can play a critical role in shaping more responsive services by connecting lived experiences with decision making.”

“By building bridges between communities and the system, we are helping to build better outcomes and stronger trust.”

Learn more about the CAHS Community Ambassador program and subscribe to the Engage network if you’d like to hear of other opportunities to share your feedback with our health service.
