Policy and Procedures Steering Group – Lived Experience Representative
We are currently recruiting for new consumer representation on the Policy and Procedures Steering Group (PPSG). This role is remunerated at $35 per hour.
You may have heard the terms 'consumer' or person with a 'lived experience' being used before. By this we mean young people, parents, carers or family members who have accessed mental health services themselves or for the person they care for, using their knowledge and experience to help improve and develop services.
We aim to deliver services that meet the needs of the people who use them. By participating in the development and review of policies and procedures you will help us to deliver meaningful and high quality services.
The CAMHS PPSG membership currently consists of:
- Administration representative
- Community CAMHS representatives
- Aboriginal staff members
- Lived experience representative
- PCH CAMHS representatives
- Professional Leads Advisory Committee representatives
- Medical Advisory Committee
- Service Manager Advisory.
Why join the PPSG?
“PPSG (The Policy and Procedures Steering Group) sees and oversees every single policy, each procedure, (in a word, each rule) used by us. As a Lived Experience Representative on the PPSG, your job is to consider how each of these impact people with your particular type of Lived Experience, either Young Person or Family Member. At first glance, some of the policies and procedures very obviously impact those with Lived Experience - gaining consent, for example - and others may be less obvious. We can make sure the Aim of each policy, the intended outcome of each procedure is improved care for the Young People CAMHS work with, and support for their families”.
Kelly Clark, PPSG Lived Experience Representative
The Steering Group currently meets bi-monthly for two hours on the third Tuesday of the month. We are asking for a two year commitment. However the Terms of Reference and meeting schedule will be reviewed at the first meeting this year.
