When you are unable to visit the Neonatal Unit
Being with your baby while they stay in one of our Neonatal Units at Perth Children’s Hospital or King Edward Memorial Hospital can be a difficult time for you and your family. This can be made more difficult if you are not able to visit. There are some circumstances in which we may ask you not to visit in order to protect our patients and staff.
For the safety of your baby and the patients and families on the Neonatal Units, you will not be able to visit if:
- Your baby has COVID-19 or has been tested for COVID-19 and we are awaiting results
- You have COVID-19 or have been tested for COVID and are awaiting results
- You are unwell and have symptoms, including:
- Fever
- Cough
- Sore throat
- Cold or flu-like symptoms
- Diarrhoea
- Vomiting.
- You have been advised to self-quarantine or isolate – even if you are well, you must not visit until your quarantine is over or you have been advised you are COVID negative
- Are a close contact with someone who is COVID positive
- You have visited an exposure site
Please check each hospital’s websites for visiting restrictions. These may change quickly in response to direction from WA Health.
