Stata is statistical software that allows you to store and manage your data, perform statistical analysis and create graphs/figures.
CAHS researchers may use Stata to:
- generate summary statistics such as means, standard deviations, ranges, percentages
- perform basic analysis such as t tests, correlation and chi-squared test
- perform regression analysis such as linear and logistic regression
- complete more complex functions such as multiple imputations
- create graphs such as scatter plots, box plots, histograms.
Stata uses drop down menus (like SPSS) or syntax. It is able to import data from Excel, SPSS, SAS and REDCap.
How to access Stata
1. Onsite
CAHS has purchased a 30 network Stata license, meaning Stata can be accessed from any CAHS networked computer. You will need a He number and access to a CAHS computer. Please contact
Natasha Bear to arrange access.
2. Telethon Kids Institute (TKI)
Staff and students of TKI can arrange access to Stata if they have a TKI asset. Please contact the TKI IT service desk for more information.
3. Purchase your own copy
Students and those affiliated with an Australian University (from the endorsed list) are able to purchase Stata at a significantly reduced cost (approx. $300-400 for a perpetual license).
