Immunisation is a safe and effective way to protect against potentially serious diseases and infections. Many serious diseases and infections are rare in Australia today because of immunisation. If we stop immunising our children, these diseases can come back.

Vaccinations trigger an immune response that protects people if they come into contact with disease again in their day to day lives. All vaccines in Australia must pass strict safety tests before they are approved for use. They are then continually monitored for safety and effectiveness.

From birth, free immunisations are available to children according to the Childhood Immunisation Schedule and then through immunisation programs in primary and high school. These are all provided through the National Immunisation Program. 

Free flu vaccines

Free flu vaccines this May and June at all Community Health Immunisation clinics.

Flu nasal spray (no needle) is free and available for kids aged 2 to 11. 

To make things easier, some of our clinics are opening longer and on Saturdays the whole family can get vaccinated together.

Extended hours clinics (early mornings, evenings and Saturdays) at:

• Saturdays at Armadale, Hilton, Mirrabooka (8:30 am to 3:30 pm)
• Tuesdays at West Perth (7:15 am to 7:00 pm)
• Wednesdays at Mirrabooka (7:15 am to 7:00 pm)
• Thursday evenings at Hilton

Please note: COVID vaccinations are not available at Community Health immunisation clinics.

After immunisation

Sometimes after immunisation, the injection site might be sore for one to two days or your child might have a fever.
