Young people light the way for their peers at CAMHS
The talented young people who helped create the Inforeel video series
A group of young people with lived experience of mental health care are helping others feel more informed and supported as they begin their journey with community Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS).
The Inforeels video series was developed by an advisory group of young people aged 14–20, including those who have previously accessed CAMHS.
Their goal was to create something meaningful for their peers, a resource that could ease uncertainty and offer insight into what treatment and recovery might look like.
The result is a series of short, engaging videos that demystify the CAMHS experience, offering practical information and reassurance to newly referred young people.
From concept to filming and editing, the advisory group played a central role in shaping the content, ensuring it reflects real experiences and speaks directly to young audiences.
The Inforeels are now shared with young people when they are referred to community CAMHS and are also available to view online, helping to make mental health care more approachable.
This initiative highlights the power of co-design and lived experience in creating services that truly meet the needs of young people, and reflects CAHS’ commitment to compassionate, inclusive care.
