Launch of the CAHS Community Ambassador Program

The Child and Adolescent Health Service (CAHS) is proud to launch the Community Ambassador Program, a new initiative designed to strengthen relationships with diverse communities and improve access to child health services across Western Australia.
Some communities, including culturally and linguistically diverse groups, neurodivergent individuals, LGBTIQA+SB people, Aboriginal families and those with disability or limited English proficiency, face greater barriers to healthcare.
The Community Ambassador Program is a direct response to this challenge, creating formal partnerships with trusted leaders who are already deeply embedded in their communities.
These Ambassadors act as bridges between CAHS and their communities, facilitating safe, inclusive, and two-way communication.
They help us better understand the unique social factors that influence how children, young people, and families engage with our services, and what can be done to improve that experience.
“Our Community Ambassadors are leading conversations and helping us improve our health information,” says Katie Browning, CAHS Coordinator Consumer Engagement.
The program is already making an impact through initiatives such as:
- The Cultural Security Indicator Project
- Community Launches
- The CAMHS Cultural Conversations Forum
- The Youth Innovation Challenge.
These projects reflect CAHS’ commitment to equity, and meaningful collaboration, ensuring our services are informed by lived experience and representative of all families.
