Mentally Healthy Expo
Fremantle CAMHS clinicians Kimberley I’Anson (Clinical Nurse Specialist, CAMHS) and Tracey Smith (SSW) attended the Lakeland Senior High School Mentally Health Expo on Friday 19 November 2021.
The event brought together a number of services from across the south metropolitan area that support young people with their mental health. The focus was on building young people’s awareness of services that offer mental health support. Young people from Year 7 to 10 were able to utilise the day workshopping how to build resilience, how to improve their mental wellbeing and how to access services.
It was a great way to connect with the Lakeland school community, and to network with local services. Young people enjoyed the 'What do I do when I’m stressed or worried?' canvas activity that CAMHS facilitated.
The canvas art showcasing student self care strategies was donated by CAMHS to the Lakeland school community for the Student Service Centre.
Students could also access information on how to design their own Emotional First Aid Kits and service leaflets including accessing an Aboriginal Mental Health Worker.
