Celebrating neurodiversity with Isla and Renai 18 March 2025 In honour of Neurodiversity Celebration Week, Isla Howard and Renai Buchanan are sharing their personal journeys to inspire change and advocate for neurodivergent individuals. As members of the Child and Adolescent Health Service (CAHS) Disability Access and Inclusion Advisory Group (DAIAG), they’re working to ensure that those with disability, including neurodivergent individuals, are supported and heard. Isla Howard describes her journey with autism as one of self-discovery. Growing up, Isla excelled in many activities but often felt different. It wasn’t until a doctor suggested autism at age 15 that everything began to make sense. Marching forward together on International Women's Day 08 March 2025 On 8 March, International Women’s Day (IWD), is celebrated across the globe. It is a day to recognise the accomplishments of women, raise awareness about gender issues, and promote the ongoing work in ‘Marching Forward’ to bring about equity for all women. To mark the day, a group of 12 inspiring women from across all areas of the Child and Adolescent Health Service (CAHS) were invited to come together and share what International Women’s Day means to them and how, as an organisation, we continue to support and nurture women working in the healthcare sector. Nominations open for the CAHS Annual Excellence Awards 07 March 2025 The Child and Adolescent Health Services (CAHS) is inviting families and consumers to nominate staff and volunteers who have provided exceptional care and service at Perth Children’s Hospital and Neonatology, Child and Adolescent Community Health, and Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services. The CAHS Annual Excellence Awards celebrate individuals who go above and beyond in their roles, making children and families feel heard, valued, and safe. CAHS Rare Care Centre representing Australia on a global stage 28 February 2025 The Child and Adolescent Health Service Rare Care Centre is collaborating across the globe to raise awareness and improve healthcare delivery to people living with rare disease (PLWRD) and their families. The Rare Diseases International (RDI)–Lancet Commission on Rare Diseases is a revolutionary initiative aimed at gaining evidence-based and equity-focused recommendations that can be implemented effectively across all nations to enhance the lives of PLWRD and their families. The Commission is composed of 27 Commissioners who represent a range of perspectives, including gender and lived experiences, as well as expertise in fields such as ethics, clinical care, research, biostatistics, economics, regulatory affairs, technology, and innovation.
